IMPORTANT! Pruning users

Postby tony » Tue Apr 08, 2008 2:48 pm

To keep Livingwithcah.com free from spammers, harvesters, etc, etc part of the sign-up process forces the user to enter their FULL NAME and ADDRESS. As stated, it's not for any other use than to keep the site membership 'clean' - in other words, if you are part of this site, then you are here for the right reasons!!

Periodically we will 'cleanse' the USER database, removing any user that is deemed to be here without proper reason. To achieve this, we will be using the ADDRESS field and the NUMBER OF POSTS field. If you have entered your proper address (remember we don't use this information nor does anyone else have access to it) OR have posted in the forums at some point, your user access is SAFE. However, if you have entered an address that doesn't seem quite right (strange words, etc) and have made NO posts, your access maybe DELETED.

Members can update their details by using the link below:
ucp.php

I hope the members understand that it is important that we maintain a 'proper' membership, there is no space here for people who aren't affected by CAH in some way.

Any questions, please either post here or send me a PM, thank you.

Under the current pruning circumstances anyone joining legitimately to just read people support (which many people do) their memberships would be pruned. There are many ways to block spammers from a site and spam bots or email harvesters:

you could Google other articles that allow the web domain owner to block such in the web site settings and files.

No that is not the case. As stated address details are checked periodically and where appropriate accounts may be deleted. If you have entered a proper address (as required while registering) or made a genuine post in the forums, then your account will not be touched.
